Our 9th vintage of Virga features Mourvedre (70%), Syrah (28%) and Grenache (2%) from Weinbau, Boushey and Ciel du Cheval vineyards. It offers a deep ruby color and engaging aromas of wild raspberry, blueberry, black currant, black roses, mulberry, pipe tobacco, olive, herb potpourri and stick incense. The flavors mirror the aromatics with generous yet focused dark fruits that are intermixed with licorice, bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee beans and dusty earth. On the back, the wine gains depth (from the Syrah) with pressed fruits, roasted nuts, framboise, and cassis liqueurs, mocha and pencil shavings, followed by a sweet-dry moderate tannin finish. This shows plenty of flavor from front to back. (courtesy of Review of Washington Wines) 92 Points: Wine Enthusiast
